Target group
This training module is intended for technicians who commission a standard MD2400 or MD2400L fire detection system and/or perform service and maintenance work on an MD2400 or MD2400L fire detection system.
Prior knowledge
Prior knowledge of the MD2400 and MD2400L fire detection system is not required. However, trainees do have a good basic knowledge of electricity and know the basics of analogue addressable fire detection systems.
Purpose of training
The MD2400/MD2400L initial training course is a theoretical course for commissioning and maintaining a standard MD2400 and MD2400L fire detection system. This course contains no practical exercises.
During the course, the trainee is introduced to the various components of the MD2400 and MD2400L fire detection systems. Connection of detection loops, main peripheral modules to the I/O bus and output wiring on a standard C.I.E. MD2400/MD2400L are covered. Connecting, addressing and analogue values of standard analogue addressable components are also part of this MD2400/MD2400L initial training course.
The initial training covers the programming of a simple fire detection system with the default controls and online functions for testing and maintaining an MD2400 and MD2400L fire detection system.
During the training, the connection between the trainee’s computer and an C.I.E. MD2400/MD2400L is tested. In order for this test to run smoothly, the trainee provides a computer with the MD2400/MD2400L configuration software, an active MD2400/MD2400L licence file and the necessary accessories for connecting to the C.I.E. MD2400/MD2400L (RS232/USB convertor, serial cable, …).
IMPORTANT: no software will be installed and/or licence file created on the day of training. These things will be taken care of by the trainee before the day of the training! To guide you in this, the trainee will receive a message several days before the training with the installation files of the MD2400/MD2400L configuration software and a manual with the necessary instructions.
Agenda
- Composition of the MD2400/MD2400L fire detection system
- Basic connections of the C.I.E. (detection loops & standard output wires) and detailed explanation of the connection and configuration of the MD2400/MD2400L I/O bus (operator consoles, repeater panels, …)
- Connection and addressing of the common XP95 components to the XP95 loop interface card:
• XPERT7 base
• XP95 isolating base
• XP95 detectors (optical smoke, heat and multisensor)
• XP95 / Addressable manual call point
• XP95 / Intelligent input/output units
• XP95 sounder & Discovery sounder base
- Summary of analogue values and fault search.
- Automatic generation of an MD2400 or MD2400L programming file

Evaluation & Training certificate
At the end of this MD2400/MD2400L initial training course, the knowledge acquired will be evaluated by means of a theoretical test. Trainees achieving a score of at least 60% will receive the certificate “MD2400/MD2400L – Initial Training” a few days after the training.
